Roy specialises in financial regulatory law, with a focus on anti-money laundering, economic sanctions and compliance. He advises financial institutions, including banks, payment service providers and asset managers, on matters concerning Dutch and European financial regulatory law. Roy has experience in conducting investigations within financial institutions. He has a pragmatic approach in dealing with complex issues. Before joining Eurius, Roy worked at HVG Law.
Examples of his legal work include:
- providing audit support to an accounting firm on the implementation and compliance with anti-money laundering and sanctions requirements
- advising an international bank on the implementation of the Wwft (Dutch AML Act)
- advising a pension provider on an array of compliance matters
- advising a consulting firm on performing an internal audit pursuant the Wtt (Act on the Supervision of Trust Offices)
Roy has been seconded to the Dutch Central Bank, where he was involved in investigations into possible breaches of the Financial Supervison Act and the Dutch AML Act by market parties.
Roy is qualified in The Netherlands.
Roy has registered the legal practice area financial law in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister). Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar. Roy is a member of the Dutch Association for Financial Law (VvFR).
